International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather
Statement of Purpose
A Positive Image
The ideal of the
International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather (IOL) Contest is to
promote a positive image of the Leather/BDSM/Fetish lifestyle.
It is our belief that the Leather community is comprised of an
extremely diverse group of people ranging from the motorcycle
and Leather/Levi clubs to the heaviest SM edge player and all of
the Leatherfolk in between. The International Mr. and Ms Olympus
Leather title seeks to make all Leatherfolk feel good about
themselves regardless of race, religion, political beliefs,
nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, size, handicap, or
health condition. It is the goal of International Mr. and Ms
Olympus Leather to make all those who wish to be a part of the
Leather community feel welcome in doing so.
Format
Categories for the International Mr.
and Ms Olympus Leather Contest are Interview, Fantasy, Fetish
Image and Stage Presence.
The Interview will consist of a question/answer
period with a panel of seven judges. The Interview will last
approximately 12-15 minutes on the Saturday morning of the
contest.
The Fantasy will be a staged erotic production
of 5-7 minutes by each contestant. This Fantasy does not have to
be an SM fantasy, but must be descriptive of, or based on, at
least one fetish.
Fetish Image is how one demonstrates his/her
concern for the entire Leather/SM/Fetish community, during the
weekend. Fetish Image includes interactions with judges, other
contestants, VIP’s, and the general public during Pantheon of
Leather weekend. This starts Friday when the contestants arrive
and continues until the staged portion of the Mr. and Ms Olympus
Leather Contest begins.
Stage Presence includes an appearance on stage
where each contestant will be asked two questions, one serious
and one humorous, by the emcee(s) . The questions will be
created in advance by the contest producers and will be drawn by
lot on stage during the contest by each contestant. Every effort
will be made to ensure that the questions are equally relevant
and thought provoking to provide a fair balance.
Judging
IOL uses the Olympic Scoring System
where the high scores and low scores in each category will be
discarded. Judges’ score cards will be collected and tallied at
the end of each segment of the contest. The winners will be
announced on stage at the end of the contest. In the event of a
tie, the high scores that were previously discarded for the tied
contestants will be added and the contestant with the most
points will win the position for which they are tied. If a tie
still remains, the low scores will be added. The third tie
breaker will be high score in interview from all judges.
Scoring
Point values for each of the four
categories is thus: Interview = 200 points possible, Fantasy =
100 points possible, Fetish Image = 100 points possible and
Stage Presence = 100 points possible; for a maximum of 500
points possible. It is not necessary for judges to give scores
in increments of five. They may give one contestant a “77” and
another “78”. Scores will not be rounded off to 75 or 80.

Contest
Eligibility Requirements/Judging Criteria
All contestants for the finals of the International Mr. and Ms
Olympus Leather Contest must meet the following requirements
upon entering the finals during IOL Weekend.
Each contestant must be at least 21 years of age. Contestants
will be required to sign a model release and provide photocopies
of a government issued photo identification of themselves with
their entry form to the finals. The model releases will be
available at contestant registration.
There is no contestant entry fee. The basic IOL Weekend package
fee will be waived. Contestants will have to pay to attend
peripheral event such as play parties and unofficial events
during IOL that are not part of the basic IOL Weekend package.
The only persons comped are the actual contestants, not handlers
or persons appearing on stage with them.
Each contestant agrees to participate in fundraisers, one of
which benefits CLAW Nation Party charities and a second which
will be a benefit for the winners' travel fund. The travel fund
will be split evenly among the two winners and will be
administered by the International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather
producers on a quarterly basis.
Each contestant agrees to attend the following year’s
International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather Contest Weekend and to
participate in the Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather Contest if they
win at the finals. Admission and stay at the host hotel will be
provided by IOL in return for participation in said weekend.
Each contestant agrees on the preliminary level to represent the
International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather title during the full
year of their title should they win on the regional or final
level. They are not obligated to travel, speak, participate, or
do any fundraising although they may be asked to do so by clubs,
organizations, and businesses in the community. If they elect to
travel, speak, participate, or do fundraising, they do so of
their own volition. It is not a requirement of the title.
Each contestant agrees to hold blameless Pantheon of Leather
and/or its board of directors, weekend volunteer personnel
and/or state sponsors for injuries, economic loss, or any
liability; and to pay all court costs in any litigation that may
arise from any legal action taken by the contestant against the
aforementioned.
Contestants must compete in the closest regional to them
geographically. For example: If there is a regional in New York
and Pennsylvania, a contestant residing in New Hampshire must
compete in New York if there is no preliminary in New Hampshire.
If you are in an area where there is no regional established,
you may enter as an independent. The same contestant application
and registration requirements apply.
The first runner-up at the preliminary level agrees to assume
the title, privileges and responsibilities of the winner if the
winner resigns or has their title removed. The second runner-up
agrees to do the same whenever the winner and first runner-up no
longer hold the title during the official title year.
The title year is defined as beginning when a contestant is
named the winner of the International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather
Contest until the following year’s contest when a new winner is
announced. The same applies to the state and preliminary titles.
The International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather titleholders may
not hold another Leather title or compete for another Leather
title during their title year.
Each contestant agrees to participate in all of the categories
of the International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather Contest Finals;
including Interview, Fetish Image, Stage Presence and Fantasy.
They also agree to participate in IOL Weekend fundraising
activities.
The Interview will consist of a question/answer period with a
panel of judges. The Interview will last approximately 12-15
minutes on the day of the contest.
The Fetish Image category gives each contestant the opportunity
to demonstrate his/her concern for the entire Leather/SM/fetish
community, during the weekend. Fetish Image includes
interactions with judges, other contestants, VIP’s, and the
general public during Pantheon of Leather weekend. This starts
Friday when the contestants arrive and continues until the
staged portion of the contest begins. We are looking for someone
who can get along with and be open to everyone. We believe that
one-on-one interaction between the titleholder(s) and the
community is an important part of a titleholder’s reign.
The Fantasy will be a staged erotic production of 5-7 minutes by
each contestant. This Fantasy does not have to be an SM fantasy,
but must be descriptive of and/or based on, at least one fetish.
Each contestant is responsible for their own props. Fantasies
must be done in accordance with Federal, California, and Los
Angeles County and City laws, within the limits of the contest
venue, and any insurance policy guidelines. Props must be
cleared off the stage within two minutes of the end of each
fantasy. No wax, oils, or sprays leaving residue, slipperiness,
or discoloration on the stage may be used. If any liquids are
used a tarp covering the whole area beneath the fantasy must be
used to protect the stage from damage and to make the change for
the next fantasy expedient. Contestants must supply their own
background music and sound in CD format. The content of each
fantasy must be cleared with the contest production manager
before rehearsal begins. No surprises please!
International Mr. and Ms Olympus Leather will supply basic props
including a St. Andrews cross, two chairs and a cocktail table.
This is done in an effort to save contestants and sponsors the
time, effort and cost of transporting these items to Los
Angeles. Contestants still may bring their own props.
Stage Presence includes appearances on stage and how the
contestant answers a light/humorous question and one serious
question asked them by the emcee(s). The questions will be
created out in advance by the IOL producers and will be drawn by
lot by each contestant as they appear on stage. Every effort
will be made to ensure that the questions are equally relevant
and thought provoking to provide a fair balance.
Travel Fund and Auction
Contestants will participate in fundraising for the
International Olympus Leather winners' travel fund and
Olympus Leather during IOL Weekend. Their participation in
this will not be judged in any way, shape or form.
Funds will be raised from an onstage auction, silent
auction, raffle of prizes and ads sold by contestants for
the program.
1. Contestants will need to bring one large or higher-value
item to display on stage while one of the emcees auctions
off the item to the highest bidder. This one-item will
replace a full basket of items making it easier on the
contestants and this will speed up the show. 100 percent of
the funds collected from this section will go to the travel
fund of winners of the International Mr. and Ms Olympus
Leather 2010 Contest.
2. Silent Auction - A silent auction will take place
throughout the weekend. Contestants and sponsors are
strongly-encouraged to, but are not required to, supply
items for this fundraising effort. 50 percent of the revenue
collected from this will go to the winners' travel fund and
50 percent to producing the weekend.
3. Raffle - Some items will go into a raffle. Raffle tickets
will be sold by volunteers all weekend and there will be
drawings throughout the weekend. Some of the silent auction
items may go into the raffle collection. 50 percent of the
revenue collected from this will go to the winners' travel
fund and 50 percent to producing the weekend.
4. Program Ad Sales - A 15 percent commission, payable to
the winners' travel fund will come from ad sales by
contestants for the official program.
International Olympus Leather recognize the
importance of the Travel Fund for the
International Olympus Leather titleholders. In an
effort to increase the size if the Travel Fund, we
encourage each contestant and producer to
secure advertising from their community in support
of their contestant. These are glossy full-color ads
in a beautiful 8 1/2" x 11" program. 15 percent of
the revenue collected from the sale of ads by the
sponsors and/or contestants in their region will be
donated to the Travel Fund.
In each region there are Leather businesses, clubs
and organizations that may wish to show their
support by advertising and backing contestants in
their ads.
There are several sizes including:
Full Page - $300 - Full Bleed 11.25" high X
8.75" wide
1/2 Page - $175 - 5.5" high X 8.5" wide or
Full Color 11" high X 4.25" wide
1/4 Page - $100 - 5.5"high X 4.25" wide
Ads are full-color.
Premium pages such as back cover, inside front
and inside back are not available.
Pantheon of Leather and International Olympus Leather are
collecting silent auction and raffle prizes from other
sources. We also are collecting large items for
onstage auction apart from the contestants.
